Sisterfields Cafe is a long-standing institution in the Bali cafe culture scene.
Holidaymakers love it for the coffee and ex-pats love it as it feels like home.
Sisterfields Café is centrally located in the heart of Seminyak, just across from Seminyak Square.
Famous for its coffee and the Western-inspired menu, Sisterfields is always busy as it is widely regarded as the iconic Australian café. Therefore, be prepared to wait out the queue in order to get a table, as they don’t take reservations. The crew and I were in Seminyak early one morning and decided to stop by this contemporary café to see what all the fuss is about!
Sisterfields Cafe certainly looks the part. In fact, with its sleek modern design, it could just as easily sit on the heart of Melbourne’s Chapel Street.
Guests can soak up the morning sun on the large timber deck. Or, retreat from the heat inside the sleek glass shop front in the main dining hall where the atmosphere is simple yet elegant. There is also seating in the undercover deck area at the back of the restaurant.
The menu includes the Western favourites of Australian travellers and is created using the best raw ingredients from local farms. I chose the classic ‘Smashed Avo’ with sun-dried cherry tomatoes, popped capers, feta, lime and sea salt on rye bread. It was tasty, but to be completely honest, I was a little underwhelmed by the food. But maybe that was just because my expectations were high, given all the hype. The coffee was good though and I definitely see why it’s a popular choice! It’s familiar, comfortable and consistent.
Sisterfields is definitely worth adding to your Brunch in Bali BUCKET LIST, if not purely for the fact that it is such an iconic part of the Seminyak coffee shop scene!
